Celebrating the resident and migrating birds that call Rockefeller State Park Preserve their home
BIRDS OF ROCKEFELLER WELCOME
Rockefeller State Park Preserve is a New York State Park located in Pleasantville, NY. I’m Mike Piston and I’ve been photographing birds, nature, and scenery in this park year-round for over two years.
*Even though I’m not affiliated with the park, I visit several times a week and share my pictures with others who visit, or have yet to discover this secnic location.
According to the Audubon Society there are at least 200 bird species found in the park at various times of year and I’m working to capture them all. Enjoy browsing and reach out via the contact form with any questions.

I’ve added answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the park here.
Look forward to seeing you on the trails!
Thank you for visiting!
ROCKEFELLER STATE PARK PRESERVE
Rockefeller State Park Preserve, located in Westchester County, New York, spans 1,771 acres of protected land in the eastern foothills of the Hudson River. The has a beautiful 55-mile network of carriage roads, originally designed by the Rockefeller family for horseback riding and leisurely walks.
These well-maintained paths wind through a variety of landscapes, including open meadows, dense woodlands, quiet brooks, and the 24-acre Swan Lake. Many of these routes were carefully planned to blend into the natural surroundings, creating a peaceful setting for visitors.
BEST BIRDING TRAILS
With over 55 miles of trails to explore, there are a lot of opportunities to spot and photograph birds at Rockefeller State Park Preserve!
After treking hundreds of miles in the park over the past few years, I’ve found some trails where I’ve found birds during all four seasons.
Some other trails might be a bit better during the spring and fall migrations, but that depends on where the birds end-up as they stop over at the park. Take a look at the list and add them to your hike when you visit Rockefeller State Park Preserve!
